Title: The Hunger Games Trilogy
Author: Suzanne Collins
Genre: Adventurous Violence-like Fiction
Summary: This trilogy starts right when a girl named Katniss Everdeen volunteers in place of her sister, Primrose to take part in the annual Hunger Games hosted by the Capitol. This trilogy takes place in the future, so things have changed, there are now 12 districts known and a Capitol in the country of Panem. The Capitol takes two tributes (1 male and 1 female) from every district to compete in the Hunger Games which is life-threatening. They kill each other just so they themselves can live, but this year, the 74th Hunger Games, rules change. “If both two tributes from the same district are the last ones living, they’ll be the two succesful victors of the 74th annual Hunger Games.” announces the Gamekeeper. Katniss and Peeta Mellark effort to live even if fit takes lying, it’s a matter of life and death. Once you’ve read the Hunger Games, read Catching Fire and Mockingjay where there’s more horror and violence to await.
Reccomendation: I would rate this series 5 stars. It may be a LITTLE scary, but it’s full of that adventure everybody loves. *****
My favorite character is Katniss Everdeen, because she’s powerful and strong. When her mother was weak, Katniss hunted, illegally with her friend Gale. When her father died Katniss took the role as the father by getting food, water, and clothing. Most importantly, Katniss also volunteered in the Hunger Games in place of her sister which requires great bravery. Though Katniss herself may have been weak here and there like when she was left out in the rain with her sisters old clothes that she couldn’t sell (Peeta helped her and tossed her a burnt loaf of bread). She was brave the whole way through.
*Note: I hope this actually doesn’t happen in the future!*

I really love this series. I still need to read the second though. But I also liked the movie!!

This was by far the most reviewed book/series last year. I’m glad you enjoyed it too. I have to admit I only read the beginning of the 1st one (too creepy for me).

You should read Mockingjay, it wasn’t that scary, in fact, I actually believe that the ending was SOMEWHAT like a happy enidng.
I hope that this doesn’t happen in the future either–it is a really scary thought. I’ve been reading tons of dystopian fiction lately. You might enjoy Jeanne DuPrau’s City of Ember series; same type of imperfect society but the characters don’t have to kill each other to survive (Phew!). We also have the graphic novel. Check with A.B.C. because she checked it out last week.
