Author: Kacy Cook
Genre: Realistic Fiction
Eleven year old Nell and her two younger brothers find an orphaned baby squirrel in their yard one morning. They care for it with the help of a girl named Libby who emails Nell and tells her what to do. Nell lies about her age and where she lives to Libby so that she doesn’t have to take the baby squirrel to a wildlife rehabilitator like many websites say, because she secretly wants to keep the squirrel forever. The parents agree that raising the squirrel would be a good project for the kids, but make them promise that they will release it when the time comes. Everything goes well, but a few weeks later they find another baby squirrel from the same nest in their yard. Will both squirrels grow up and be released? Will Libby ever find out that Nell lied to her? Read this book to find out!
I would recommend this story to anybody who loves squirrels (like me!) or nature. I would give this book five stars.

Great review – this book sounds really interesting. My friend growing up had a pet squirrel for a while. I think I’ll give this book a try.
